Rene R. Rheaume Read your book, amazing how the officers could provide services to community. the story of the young boy is a sad one for sure. Also police service providing to the needy and at the same time prevent crimes. Liked the format of the book, and always enjoyable to find historical photos. well done, and should be proud.
Larry Brassard (Gravenhurst Fire Chief and served as Sergeant with Halton Regional Police) An important glimpse into a piece of Gravenhurst heritage. Well researched, well written, well illustrated. Anyone wanting an impression of smaller Town Ontario history would well served to have a copy of this. Particularly insightful about how small communities struggled to provide law and order, and other amenities, as they grappled with growth and the social implications of being a part-time home to many who travelled for the beauty and serenity of Muskoka, while escaping the cauchophony of the city. Thank you James!
Bob Pyefinch I just got thru a very interesting read. Great photo collection as well. Well done Jim ! I recommend this book to anyone interested in Gravenhurst History or small town policing. I picked by copy up at the Peel show and I must admit what a great book, with lot's of information. Well worth picking up.
Jaime Cline Jim, would you save me a copy and bring it to the CSMMI show in June.
Josh Thomas Awesome!! Well done Jim!
Steven VanSeggelen An excellent book, Very Well done Jim.
Steven Greenblatt Just finished reading it Jim. Great job!
Alan Boyd Have just finished an initial scan of your book, Jim. WELL DONE & EXCELLENT!! Not only was I privileged to be a Gravenhurst constable, but I was a good friend of Charles Pike's son, and got to spend time in their home above the jail cells at First and Brock around the time of the Castro Revolution. Earl Milligan, without doubt, was an incredibly competent Chief for whom I had the privilege of working, and remembering today at his memorial service (along with yourself and Paul Kirk). Thank you for services rendered, Jim!! Alan
James Wouters Thank you Alan Boyd for your comments. You have some excellent memories with Chief Earl who I got to know and admire. The book could only be written because I had people like you to rely on for information. As you know I got the news of Earl's death last Thursday. That same day I was informed by the printer that the book was ready for pickup. Unfortunately and sadly Earl never saw the final copy. Thank you for your service.
Dave Dean I got my copy on Saturday. A great book and well worth the money! Well done Jim and Mike, I know it’s a great deal of work!
George Wood Thomas You did a great job Jim. Superb snap shot of the Gravenhurst PD. Great detail about the members that served.
Earle Laycock My copy of "A Brief History of the Gravenhurst Police Department" by Jim Wouters just arrived in the mail. I am really impressed by the professional appearance of this book and the amount of history it contains.
Looking forward to giving this book a careful read as the names and photos bring back a lot of memories.
I would highly recommend contacting Jim and getting a copy for yourself, if you haven't already done so.
Betty and Harvey Bainbridge We are so grateful that you shared your delightful book with us!
Aside from the excellent historical information, the anecdotal stories and humour make it impossible to put down. We will be sharing it with the family as it touches us with personal facts and memories. Mike (Brock) would have loved this book.
Thank you for creating this treasure!
Congratulations and we wish you future successes.
Charles Kantor Hi Jim , it came and is now in our boardroom/parade (Toronto Police) for all to enjoy and flip thru, great book thanks.

Fern Willett A big thank you for the copy of The Gravenhurst Police Force. I really appreciated all the hard work put into it. I will say as a little girl, I wanted to marry Earl Milligan. He was my hero, next to my dad.
John Kirk That is an excellent book!! You did a great job on it!! I can't imagine the hours it took to do it! I learned a lot from it and also brought back some memories. A real keepsake! Thank you. ( John Kirk was the last Gravenhurst Police Officer to work a shift.)
